Guide - Beginners Guide to The Rift (2024)

The rift starts out at Barry. Do what he says, you are also timed so move quickly!

Talk to Barry (and Elise if it requires you to) then jump down there is no fall damage
If you get teleported just come back to Enigma at -41 71 97 and get the cloak (you will probably want to gather 4 of the magic particles for 100 motes required)
From then I like to just go get Shy Cruxes from Shys and motes from the particles (orbs)
Getting Wyld gear is also very good

The Wyld Sword is from the Threebrothers, which are located at -91 76 108, -98 76 153, and -135 75 112 (above the three ladders)
The sword costs 333 motes and 3 Shy Cruxes
The Wyld armor pieces are from Argofay Traffickers

Helmet-150 112 1161000 Motes
Chestplate-137 97 1142000 Motes
Leggings-90 90 1061000 Motes
Boots-136 88 11250 Motes

The Crux Talisman is an upgradable item. You start with the Shy Talisman and can upgrade it a lot. It is crafted originally with 8 Shy Cruxes, then upgraded with 16 Shadow Cruxes, 16 Volt, 16 Scribe, 24 Frosty, and finally 32 Splatter.
It gives more Rift Time and Crux Fortune the more of certain types of mobs you have killed.

In order to bottle an Odonata you need an Empty Odonata Bottle from -92 110 95
Locate an Odonata - flying small heads
Right click with Larva Silk on two logs on either side of the Odonata and use the stick to go between
You will want to gather Bottled Odonatas 9 to start out
You need to look at the Odonatas for 3 seconds (what it says on the bottle, but be real nobody reads the lore)
You can play music by right clicking on the Odonatas (I don't know what this does)

There is a spot at -93 97 137 where you can bottle an Odonata without needing to be on rope, you can just stand on the branch

Go to Dr. Hibble at -79 73 9
Go to Kat on the island on the opposite side of the Black Lagoon
Go back to Dr. Hibble (now Dr. Edwin)
Right click and select the option

Left click boss repeatedly
Slime pound - Dodge the waves, generally stay away from the slime to make it easier (I like f5 and sprint jumping + a/d + w over waves)
Left click boss repeatedly
Wicked bombs - Stay away from the green clay
Left click boss repeatedly
Leech Swarm - It looks like you have to kill the leeches
Left click boss repeatedly
Mortiferous Lazer - Lazer shoots out and then comes back, you need to jump (or possibly be able to shift on the ladders, although they break) there also may be a hole to jump into to dodge the lazer when it returns
Left click boss repeatedly
Get 8 Leech Supreme Fragments upon killing boss

You need 4 Leech Supreme Fragments, 24 Deadgehog Spines, 32 Lil' Pads, and 4 Bottled Odonatas! That's Wyld! (I'm sorry)

Leech Belt - 1 Silkrider Safety Belt (bought for 8 Bottled Odonata) and 8 Leech Supreme Fragments
Leech Sword - 4 Leech Supreme Fragments, 12 Deadgehog Spines, and 1 Wyld Sword
Aspect of the Leech - 8 Leech Supreme Fragments, 128 Lil' Pads

6 Shy Cruxes > 1 Larva Hook > 8 Larva String

Located in a basem*nt in the West Village at -88 72 -123
Room 1: Four levers - Flick them all down
Room 2: Lava Maze - You can jump over lava at parts, or just shift
Room 3: Crafting Room - Recipes (you can look them up if you don't know em *leads*) are backwards on the crafting table, you can see mobs on the other side and do not have to craft a crafting table
Room 4: Upside-Down Parkour: Look up and it shows you where you need to jump. There is a hard mode that is more of memorization, if you fall in lava it tps you to the start and staying on wood too long breaks it (gives talisman). The hard mode is turned on with a wooden button on the wall to the right of spawn, before parkour.
Room 5: Red-Green Puzzle: Difficult. You have two versions of yourself, one on the left and one on the right. If the glass is green, it will copy what you do. You position the green version of you over a pressure plate and right click the red glass to make that green, which freezes the previous version of you
Puzzle 1 - Position over pressure plates
Puzzle 2 - Do a path sort of like the attached picture

Guide - Beginners Guide to The Rift (1)

Puzzle 3 - Pressure plate on the left unlocks an iron door on the right with a button that jumps you into the air after a short time. Press the button and get up to -243 47 -106. Turn the right glass to green. This opens the iron door next to it which another player can jump into. I genuinely have no idea how you are supposed to do it solo.
Puzzle 4 - Optional, you seem to be able to get talisman without doing it however. youtube.com/watch?v=lncl7XzPddA is a good guide to the Mirrorverse if you want a visual guide
Room 6: Dance Room: Buggy. Go on the blocks and do what it tells you to do.
Room 7: Tubulator: Really fun, right click the blocks on the other side of the mirror to have them appear (with particles) on your side of the mirror. You get a talisman if you don't use checkpoints while doing it, no crazy hard jumps like neos but just normal jump boost parkour.
Room 8: Reward room! The best one! 60,000 Motes, a timecharm for 10 shadow cruxes and 10,000 motes, upgraded chestplate for 12 shadow cruxes and the wyld chain top, and an enchanted book bundle for 16 shadow cruxes and 10,000 motes.

Agaricus Cap - Hold right click on brown mushrooms, left click when they turn red
Collection has Agaricus Soup, which gives speed, Agaricus Cap Cap, which is an upgrade to the Not-Dead-Gehog Mask, and the Agaricus Chumcap, which is a crafting recipe.
Caducous Stem - Break top down to harvest
Collection has Caducous Legume, which gives +90 Rift Time, Caducous Extract, a material for the alchemist, and the Caducous Feeder, a carrot candy which gives pets 1.1 million xp twice.
Wilted Berberis - Harvest the dead bushes with purple particles, which will make a different bush in the farm have the purple particles.
Collection has Berberis Blowgun, Jinxed Voodoo Doll, a Voodoo Doll upgrade, and the Berberis Fuel Injector, which gives +15% speed for farming minions and sometimes produces Lush Berberis.
Berberis is also required for the Self-Recursive Pickaxe.

The Chicken N Egg Timecharm requires 1 Caducous Stem Bunch, 1 Agaricus Cap Bunch, 2 Wilted Berberis Bunches, 1 Proto Chicken and 8 Metaphorical Eggs
Bunches are from the first unlock in the collection, Proto Chicken is from Shania, and Metaphorical Eggs are from shooting chickens twice with the Berberis Blowgun.
Timecharm is from the Dreadfarm

The Skyblock Citizen Timecharm is gotten by going to Barry at the area where normally you would elect mayors.
You go talk to Barry, then click on protestors, click on Barry, and go back to the protestors and choose the right option.
After all 7 protestors are satisfied, you get Barry's Montgray Pen, which combined with 16 Scribe Cruxes near the back of the room behind Barry gets the Skyblock Citizen Timecharm, unlocking the Living Cave.

The Detective is at -49 68 -38
The Florist is at 2 71 -12
Master Tactician Fink is at -191 72 -55 behind the colosseum
The blacksmith is in front of the Living Cave at the Green/Yellow/Red street
Ramero's house is at -49 68 -38 again
Taylor is down the street at -27 64 -43
Then you go back to Ramero's house and see the single greatest line of dialogue in the rift

The living cave has two floors, the top floor and the bottom floor.

The top floor is accessable with the Skyblock Citizen Timecharm past Deja Vu Alley (the worst place in the rift)
It features Autonull mobs, which act slightly like zombie pigmen, but with a small range (around the size of a room) and drop Nullified Metal, which can be used to craft the Self-Recursive Pickaxe (recommended after Detective Amog)

The Self-Recursive Pickaxe is an improvement to the Wyld Sword which costs 24 Wilted Berberis, 6 Nullified Metal, and either a Tactician's Murder Weapon or a Leech Sword. It can mine the lapis blocks.

With the Self-Recursive Pickaxe you can mine the lapis blocks on the walls and floor (floor is easiest) and get Living Metal
The more you mine the more you get, once you mine 40 lapis in the chain you get 20 Living Metal. The Living Metal can be crafted into armor pieces, which you have to fight. It generally will attract a nearby Autonull. After you kill the armor piece you need to click on it in order to add it to armor. This is required to survive the bottom floor.

There is an area you can spawn armor and have them not spawn the blocks that need to be destroyed. Stand like this on 7 75 -160 and spawn them on top of the stone block in front.

Guide - Beginners Guide to The Rift (2)

The bottom floor has Frozilles and better loot (double Living Metal), however it will drain you very quickly (-120s a second or so) without being fully charged.
Frozilles give the ability to craft the Living Timecharm for 160 Living Metal (glass blocks) and 20 Frosty Cruxes. It will unlock the colosseum.
You need to left click each block of ice the Frozille spawns at least once before you can kill it. The boom cannot be outran and deals 180s of damage.
You can mine icicles to craft the Frozen Water Pungi which can freeze the Living Metal Snakes (the things snaking along the walls, ceiling, and floor) which allows another player to mine them. This sucks, you need someone else to calm snakes for you. Crafted with 128 Frozen Water and 8 Nullified Metal. You can somewhat solo the snakes by alternating mining and taming, and fortunately you only need 20. It shares drops with the person mining and taming. I was able to get my hearts in with a person in chat (shoutout RodrigoF_211 ty).

The colosseum is an area that you unlock after the Living Cave which has a new boss, Bacte. Definitely not related in any way to a certain past mayor.

You spawn Bacte by hitting the Globowls towards B

Bacte attacks with:
Spike attack - Dodge
Slice attack - Go to the correct portion of the screen to not lose time
Slimecopter - Jump and move walk against while midair (or AOTL)

After tentacles die a Blobbercyst will spawn which also needs to be killed. Blobbercysts take damage from weapons and Globowls.
There are 5 phases to Bacte
Phase 1: No attack, 1 Tentacle
Phase 2: Spike attack, 2 Tentacles
Phase 3: Slice, Spike, 3 Tentacles
Phase 4: All attacks, 4 Tentacles at 3 HP
Phase 5: Slimeblock arena, get a blaster (left click with weapon) to shoot tentacles with. No Globowls or Blobbercysts.

Bacte will drop 8 Bacte Fragments and 6,000 Motes on death. It is recommended to do the bossfight with other people.

Globulate Timecharm - 8 Bacte Fragments, 20 Shy Cruxes
Femurgrowth Leggings - 8 Bacte Fragments, 8 Shadow Cruxes, 8 Volt Cruxes, Chicken Leggings

Barrier Street has Shen Auctions and the Photon Pathway which if you beat it leads you to Deer who needs another 8 Bacte Fragments for the boat (from the island back in the lagoon)

To get the flying boat you need to complete the questline at Reed which requires 16 Larva Silk, 64 Wilted Berberis, 128 Half-Eaten Carrots, 1 Living Metal Anchor (9 Living Metal Hearts and 128 Living Metal), and 8 Bacte Fragments.

Clicking on Deer with the Flying Boat brings you to the Stillgore Chateau.
After killing 12 Vampires you can craft the Healing Melon which heals 7 hearts for 50 mana.
Maddox spawns Vampire Slayer for Motes
