Here is a quick recap of what pets the Arcanum has brought us as well as the new hybrids you’ve may or may not have seen!
The Quest
You can get the quest for your school pet from your school teacher in the Arcanum. They will send you to a location to defeat a boss that uses the actual pet and its spells. Don’t worry too much about the battle: you will face a boss of your own school with only about 9000 hp. They don’t cheat, though the Myth boss uses weird off-school spells like Tower Shield and Balanceblade. The other bosses stick to their own school’s spells, so Life wizards can expect to be attacked by heaps of mean Imps for example.
Fire: Charging Bull
This petlooks like a mean taco shell but don’t let it fool you!
Ice: Borealis Golem
I would advise pet owners to hide any anchors holding the spiral together.
Storm: Rain Core
Woo, a storm over time attack! I just wish it had a set number of pips and not “x”, since it makes this card very situational.
Death: Ghulture
Careful, I’m not sure if birds should even be allowed to have such deadly swords.
Life: Kookaburra
A cheap AOE, one step closer to what Life wizards want.
Myth: Wandering Eye
I wonder if this pet blinks. Staring contest anyone?
Balance: Opossum
Blades! This pet will be handy in questing and when attempting to reach one in a million.
There are also 15hybrids available. Hybrid pets are special pets which can be hatched by breeding specific pairs of pets. My experience is that hatching an Opossum with a Kookaburra can result in 4 different pets for both owners: an Opossum, a Lively Opossum, a Kookaburra or a Noble Kookaburra. Going “first” on the sigil doesn’t seem to have an effect.

*gasp* The blades! Definitely makes things deadly for skeleton dragon users!
Raging Bull + Kookaburra = Courageous Bull
It’s like a taco shell, only healthier? The Lifeblade is a nice bonus to jades who want to use this pet for the stun and choke.
Raging Bull + Rain Core = Charging Bull
This is quite a shock (meme intended)! A cloud of fire would have personally looked a lot cooler to me but I’m all for purple tacos shells!
Raging Bull + Opossum = Gallant Bull
Once again another taco shell… Careful, this one has some sand on it and of course… the blade!
Kookaburra + Raging Bull = Ornery Kookaburra
I’m starting to wonder if maybe these should have been the spells placed on Raging Bull instead. I do understand the gist… with Power Link having the Fire and Life symbols.
Kookaburra + Opossum = Noble Kookaburra
Blade+Heal+AOE=Love “Bird is the word”
Wandering Eye + Ghulture = Gloomy Eye
There are so many versions of frogs! 😛 The stun card is new and I want to cast it so badly.
Wandering Eye + Borealis Golem = Frosty Eye
A one pip AoE stun?! Has the world gone mad? This pet may serve to be useful and clutch in team pvp.
Rain Core + Ghulture = Acid Rain Core
The Death Supercharge is extremely scary! I would cry if anyone figured out how to make this meta…. don’t you dare, Eric x:
Rain Core + Borealis Golem = Freezing Rain Core
Woah, an Ice Supercharge, this is beyond cool! Ice will have more potential with dealing more damage during PVE now.
Borealis Golem + Wandering Eye = Arcane Golem
Definetly a very cool pet, plus that shatter could mean trouble… Good thing it’s not an AoE Shatter for 2-4 pips.
Borealis Golem + Raging Bull = Ember Golem
I’m not exactly sure if Manders even wear armor.
Ghulture + Wandering Eye = Enigmatic Ghulture
A golden sword this time? Watch out for the talons! :/ Wait…. How do pets get a hold on weapons to begin with?
Ghulture + Rain Core = Clamoring Ghulture
Is this my least favorite hybrid? Possibly. I would have kept the feint or I would maybe have added in a storm fuel. Interesting how the pet lacks the death part… minus the looks of course!
Final Thoughts?
These pets have definitely been added to my collection list and I must say, they’re cute and awesome. Of course they can’t directly replace broken pets like the Moose. Still, they do — for many of us — add more reason to continue playing! If you haven’t heard already, Kingsisle is working really hard on getting their games like wiz and pirate into Steam so help us help them and rate their games so that we may one day bring back another wave of players and updates.
